A Memo From Superintendent Tracy Wrend
Yesterday, Governor Scott issued a stay home, stay safe order, effective today, March 25, at 5:00 PM. It is more important now than ever before that we ensure a strong sense of connectedness and continuity for our students and their families. We are still here to support you!
Our meals program will continue as planned. Core staff will remain on duty in our meals distribution sites - MES and SES - to provide meals and ensure safety and sanitation at these sites.
Distance learning will also continue as planned. We are off to a great start and amazing things are happening. During Morning Meetings and Teacher Advisory (TA) meetings, some of our students’ pets are joining in. Teachers and students are expanding their use of our Learning Management Systems to communicate, provide instruction, materials, and resources, and to manage workflow. A student recently completed a musical performance by phone for their teacher. Our cooperative track team, including students from PA and SHS, met “virtually” for some core workouts... and laughing and chatting! There will be many challenges to come but we will tackle them together, one step at a time.
Our commitment to caring and relationships is at the foundation of our LSUU community. This commitment will continue. We will keep reaching out every day to connect with every child to keep learning on track and support student well-being. We are here for all of our children and families and will support you or connect you with other agencies and resources if needed.
