A Memo From Superintendent Tracy Wrend
I want to begin by thanking all in the community and schools for efforts to follow the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Vermont Department of Health (VDH) regarding prevention and preparedness for COVID-19. Developments are fluid and rapid. Our priority is the health and safety of all in LSUU. We can help protect the health and safety of all with a calm, informed team approach.
As we continue to monitor the situation and prepare, I want to update you on two additional prevention strategies for the schools of LSUU:
These decisions allow us to narrow our focus on health and safety locally and prioritize our work to keep learning and essential services on track for students. We are monitoring guidance and developments on an on-going basis and may change plans for student events and travel and community use of school facilities if it is deemed appropriate.
In the meantime, faculty and staff are working hard to ensure all follow guidance regarding hand washing and hygiene, cleaning and disinfecting, and staying home when sick. Faculty and staff are also preparing for student learning during extended absences or school dismissal, and provision of essential social and medical services and meals if needed. No decisions regarding school closure or dismissal have been made and will only be made upon the advice of the Commissioner of Health and Secretary of Education if needed.
We will continue to provide updates as new information is available. Again, thank you for your support during this challenging situation.
