Dear Families,

The last few weeks we have been reading and learning about emotions. We read three different llama llama books and talked about all of little llama’s different feelings. We sorted pictures into different groups of emotions. We also also read Glad Monster, Sad Monster and made our own feelings monsters. This week we will read Pete’s a Pizza and be made into pizzas just like Pete! While talking about emotions we have focused on happy, sad, mad and worried/scared. We have talked about how our feelings change. We might feel sad now but our feelings won’t last forever and we will feel happy again.

We also learned about the I and letter C. We made insect collages on letter I and made fuzzy pom pom caterpillars. We have also practiced making out letters with sticks and writing them on our handwriting worksheets. We had a visit from Carl the Cow who loves things that start with /c/. Each student had a chance to feed Carl something that starts with /c/!

Thank you so much for trying to make sure your child is prepared with proper outdoor clothing. This unpredictable weather sure has not made it easy. We have a snow covered playground one day and then it’s bare the next day! It is helpful to send snowpants every day though. We have been going out in the mornings and it’s cold and the slides and swings are frosty.

Thank you so much to the families who made it to our Read and Discover night on Thursday. Morgan provided us with some great information on reading, singing and sharing rhymes with young children. I am sending along the handout she provided.

A reminder that winter break is coming up in three weeks. We will not have school the week of December 25 -29 or Monday, January 1. School will resume Tuesday January 2.

Call me with any questions!
