Jennie's November 12th letter

November 12, 2018

Dear Families,

November is here and with it some snow. The playground is often wet and icy so please send appropriate clothing. This means snowpants(if we don’t need them then we won’t wear them), warm coats, hats, boots and waterproof mittens. Please also continue to send a change of clothes in backpacks in case a child’s clothes get wet or messy.

These past few weeks we read about pumpkins, scarecrows and monsters. We read about The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything and The Big Pumpkin during Halloween week. We opened up a pumpkin and made observations about what we saw, felt and smelled. We then used our pumpkin to make pumpkin muffins. We had a great time decorating pumpkin faces as well!

Last week we moved on to monsters and read Go Away Big Green Monster and Glad Monster, Sad Monster. We made our own monsters and talked about the letter M. Our puppet friend Mary the mouse came to teach us about the sound that M makes at circle time. We also did some practice with rainbow writing letter M. We talked about different feelings as well and drew monsters to show how we were feeling.

This week Molly came in to visit and talk to us about sweet potatoes and harvesting. We learned that sweet potatoes are roots and grown under the ground. We had a chance to look and hold a raw sweet potato, taste a cooked sweet potato and then paint with sweet potato stamps!

Next week: Thanksgiving Break-No School Wednesday and Thursday November 21 & 22

Early Release: December 4th -11:45

Please call with any questions! 888-6707 ext. 4

Best,

Jennie
