A Message From Superintendent Tracy Wrend
The votes are in for the Articles of Agreement for the newly created School District of Lamoille South Unified School District (LSUU). The Articles of Agreement establish critical rules around where students will attend school, the closure of school buildings, and the representation on the new Union District Board.
The following amendments were all approved by voters and will go into effect July 1, 2019, unless there is a delay or the boards’ legal appeal is successful.
ARTICLE 1: Attendance; Restructuring of Grade Configurations passed. This means that students will attend the school that a student residing in that town would have attended this year for four years, through 2023.
ARTICLE 2: Closure of School Buildings passed. This means that schools cannot be closed without a vote of the town for four years, through 2023.
ARTICLE 3: Closure of School Buildings passed. This means that after the four year period, through 2023, schools cannot be closed without a vote of the members of the electorate of LSUU.
ARTICLE 4: LSUU Board of School Directors passed. This means that the new LSUU board will be comprised of one member from Elmore and three members each from Morristown and Stowe.
Detailed results of the vote and an updated copy of the Lamoille South Unified Union Articles of Agreement, including the approved amendments, can be found here. Thanks to all who voted!
