The first day of school for freshmen and students new to Peoples Academy is Monday, August 26, and all students return on Tuesday, August 27. Bus routes in all schools are posted on our website. Please note updated end-of-school times for Stowe Middle/High (2:43pm) and Stowe Elementary School (2:53pm) as well as the elimination of courtesy bus stops in Morrisville at Fairwood Parkway and on Congress Street. We encourage families to plan ahead for these adjustments to school routines.
In addition to back-to-school preparations, the new LSUU board has been hard at work establishing focus areas for the 2019-2020 school year. You can read more about the board’s goals here.
Thank you again for entrusting your children’s education with us. We are looking forward to a great school year.
Lamoille South Unified Union Board Brief
August 19, 2019
Please join us at the first annual LSUU Community Engagement Night scheduled for Monday, October 14, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Peoples Academy. The evening will include a light dinner, student entertainment and an opportunity for small group discussion around two of the board’s key areas of exploration: quality/equity and capital/facilities. Come and share your hopes and dreams for our district and get to know our new, unified community. Additional information will be shared shortly.
The board reviewed the summer programs offered at schools across the district. Facilitated by faculty, these programs were one of several options provided to assist students who did not reach course proficiency during the school year. Participation was voluntary and we were pleased students took advantage of these opportunities.
As a new entity, LSUU must also adopt new policies and procedures. The board identified policies and procedures that will be discussed at our September 16 meeting. The policies will then be warned publicly and approved on October 7.
Principal participation at upcoming board meetings will be aligned with the work of the board. The board brainstormed topics that will enable us to gain insight into the strengths and areas of improvement for each of the seven schools within LSUU, and we look forward to principals participating in our learning process.
Due to the Labor Day holiday, the next meeting of the LSUU board is scheduled for Monday, September 16, beginning at 5:30pm at Morristown Elementary School.
LSUU’s E-Newsletter, including Board Briefs will be posted at https://www.lamoillesouthsu.org/blog.php the Thursday following each board meeting.
