A Message From Superintendent Tracy Wrend
The budget development process for the 2020-2021 school year is underway. The process began, as it has in the past, with the identification of our educational, resource and programmatic priorities by faculty, staff and principals and will culminate in a comprehensive review by the board, board approval and, ultimately, approval by the electorate.
This year, our democratic responsibilities as a community regarding public education have changed in that we have a new definition of community and a shared responsibility for the educational opportunities and outcomes at all seven schools of Lamoille South. This will result in a budget framework that looks different than it has in the past, and the board and administration are committed to communicating the budget clearly and transparently so that all have an opportunity to understand the investments in education in all of our schools. The board and administration are also committed to ensuring a budget that advances our goals of quality and equity while demonstrating our ongoing commitment to responsible governance.
Members of the community are encouraged to attend board meetings, especially in December and January as a detailed review of the opportunities in each school and evaluation of needs and priorities continues. This is an important time for our entire educational community to engage in the support of all of our students.
