The calendar for the 2020-2021 school year is now posted on our website. There are two changes of note.
First, the start of school is August 24, 2020, one week earlier than the traditional start of school for our region. This start date is only one day earlier than the earliest traditional start date. Second, April break is scheduled for the third week in April, to align with schools across northern Vermont.
Parents and families are encouraged to note these adjustments in our scheduling of school days as you plan for the coming school year.
Consistent with Vermont law and student-centered practice, the school calendar is developed in consultation with the sending districts for the Green Mountain Technology and Career Center and provides for the minimum number of common student and professional development days for the region. The calendar allows for decisions regarding school and student safety during weather and other unexpected events, which are more frequent in recent years and often occur earlier in the school year. It is structured to promote student engagement and productive learning practices and ensure professional obligations that are essential to supporting learning are scheduled in timely and meaningful ways. And, decisions about the calendar are intended to respect the traditions and schedules of our students, faculty, staff and families.
