Statement by Superintendent Tracy Wrend Regarding Act 46 Injunction Ruling

A Message From Superintendent Tracy Wrend

Judge Mello’s recently released decision to deny an injunction does not directly impact the legal appeal process underway for the Elmore-Morristown and Stowe School Districts.

After years of study and engagement with communities, the Boards of Elmore-Morristown and Stowe determined that the best means of meeting the goals of Act 46 was for the school districts to remain separate.  To that end, our districts have filed a legal action, which we anticipate will be heard by the court in mid-April.  This legal action is separate from the suit that was denied an injunction today.

In the meantime, we have an agreement in place that allows us to pursue dual tracks to prepare for the 2019-2020 year.  We are preparing for operations as a merged district, while at the same time preparing for normal operations in our current structure.
